AUSTRIA HIKE TOUR: ZILLERTAL VALLEY AND HALLSTATT

The castles that mad King Ludwig II spend all his fortune and his health, the most picturesque villages and highlands of Austrian Alps, Alpine landscapes that never disappear from our horizons, glacial mountain lakes that you will have a hard time believing in its reality, and of course a UNESCO World Heritage. Hallstatt. Within the same program, both the pleasant walks accompanied by enormous views and the rich cultural elements of the Bavarian and Tyrolean regions could be blended in such a beautiful way.

Day 1:

Munich, Neuschwanstein Castle, Zillertal

5 hours drive, 350 km.

After meeting at Munich International Airport, we set off towards the famous Neuschwanstein Castle, which was the life projects of Bavarian King Ludwig II. The castle, which cost a fortune and the throne of the king, also inspired Disney. The region, which is also the starting point of the famous Romantic Road, hosts many fairy tales. After having lunch after our castle visit, we start the journey to our hotel in the Austrian Alps, Tyrolean region via Innsbruck. We will stay in our hotel in Zillertal region for a total of 4 nights. Dinner and free time after settling in the hotel.

Day 2:

Hike from Eng Alm to Lamsenjochhütte

After breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we go to the famous village of Eng Alm, which is located at a height of 1270 meters in a valley between the Karwendel mountain range. After spending some time in the village and tasting the famous milk and yogurt, we start the Binsalm and Lamsenjochhütte walk at 1953 meters. After taking our lunch at Lamsenjochhütte, which offers accommodation for the Kanwerdel Mountains climbers, we go down to the valley again with a great view. Free time and dinner after arriving at our hotel in the evening.

Day 3:

Hike from Schlegeisspeicher to Olpererhütte and back

6 hours medium difficulty hike, 13 km.

After breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we continue to Schlegeisspeicher (Schlegeis Lake 1,782 meters) located at the end of Zillertal Valley. The dam built in this glacier lake, shows us a very interesting view. After spending a short time at the lake, our famous Olpererhütte hike starts. Olpererhütte is a famous accomodation cabin which has been serving since 1881 at an altitude of 2,388 meters. First of all, we reach our first stage, Friesenberghaus, after a 2.5 hour walk. After another 2 hours, we reach Olpererhütte. We have a lunch break with amazing Alpine views and Schlegeis Lake view below us. After the break, we start our descent from another trail. Our descent takes around 1.5 hours and we arrive to the starting point, Schlegeisspeicher. We return to our hotel and give free time in the evening.

Day 4:

Salfeins Lake hike and Inssbruck

3 hours drive, 150 km. 3 hours easy difficulty hike, 8 km.

After having breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we set off for our walk to Sallfeinersee Lake, which has one of the most beautiful views of the Austrian Alps. After the 1 hour car journey, we start hiking. The hike is in total 8 kilometers and we will have the view of of Innsbruck and the Alps during the hike. On the way back we are going to spend some free time in Innsbruck and return to our hotel.

Day 5:

Hallstatt, Münih

6 hours drive, 450 km. 3 hours easy city walk.

Today we leave our hotel after breakfast and head out to Hallstatt, one of Austria's most famous villages. The settlement, which has an altitude of about 500 meters, is located on the west coast of Lake Hallstatt. The village, which is on the Unesco World Heritage List, is famous for its salt mines, the Michael Chapel with more than 1200 skulls, the Dachstein Ice Caves and the Christ Church, which is photographed in abundance. After our Hallstatt trip, we continue to Munich. After arrival, first check in to the hotel and we take a short city trip and give free time for dinner.

Day 6:

Munich and return

45 minutes drive, 45 km. 3 hours easy city walk.

After having breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we make a walking city tour of Munich until our evening flight. Isartor, one of the city's gates, Marienplatz, where criminals were executed and duels were held, Town Halls and St Peter's Church, Freuenkirche, National Theater, Max-Joseph Square and Maximilian Street are the main points of our walk. After the tour, we go to the airport and say goodbye to you.
